Happy to Help!

Welcome to North Star Environmental Building Performance LLC!

My name is Dan and I am the owner of North Star Environmental Building Performance LLC.  We are a consulting firm that specializes in indoor environmental quality and building performance problem diagnosis and solution design.  We work directly with our clients to understand the problem they are experiencing or the goal they want to achieve and then design a solution that will best fit their needs.  We offer site assessments, diagnostics and testing within our service area and remote consultation for clients across the country.  We can work as a bridge between you and other service providers to find the right company to implement your solution and to ensure it meets your design requirements once installed.

We are in business to provide you with data and analysis to determine the root cause of the problem and to design the right solution to address it, to find the right provider to implement the solution, and to verify that the completed project meets the design goals.  That’s it.  We don’t have any financial interest in finding a specific problem or in any service industry or individual providers.  We follow the observable data to where it leads us, and we listen carefully to your needs.  We will put together detailed yet approachable reports or presentations as needed and meet with you to go over findings and recommendations.  It is our goal that you will fully understand what we’ve discovered and what we recommend.  We will vet and recommend providers based on quantifiable performance metrics, direct communication and client feedback.  We can be on hand to oversee installations.  We can reevaluate at checkpoints or at completion to verify the goals have been met.

We thought it might be useful (and hopefully interesting and even fun) to start this blog which will help to tell our story as well as to provide insight into what “building performance” is all about from the perspective of an experienced inspector.  Our goal is to inform and educate the public as well as other tradespeople about how to tune a home to meet the needs of those that occupy it every day.  We believe that a building should be a haven that supports its occupants and allows them to thrive.  Good information, good communication and a well-informed and dedicated team is how we can make that happen.

I know a great mechanic who has helped me with my vehicles over many years. I met him through a personal recommendation. Sometimes the problems were easy to fix, sometimes not. No matter what the situation was, he would explain the details and the options in an easy-to-understand way. He would always meet the expectations we agreed upon. When I thanked him for his work, he would always respond the same way, “happy to help!” - and he was. I’ve always felt the same way about my clients and their homes, happy to help!

Are you ready to get started?  We’re excited to hear about your next project!
